Media arts: History and theory

I n the video, I think it was interesting how they demonstrate the power and potential of cameras, like how resolution displays visibility, and what it doesn't capture is invisible. In How Not to be Seen Lesson II , there are 7 ways of making something inv isible in plain sight, like hiding, pretending you aren’t there, scrolling, wiping, erasing, and shrinking. I also found it interesting how the US military added a calibration pad for the us army to use for aerial calibration . Lesson III, shows that in 2000, a new target was introduced for calibration , made from pixels . They also describe how 3d models with resolution can also be considered used as calibration.

 Experimental filming may be difficult to understand since it's a wide-ranging genre. To put it simply though, you can have creative freedom, Personal expression, and social expression. All of these elements can give filmmakers more freedom for creativity and combine reactions when the audience gets to see the films. As art continues to form with experimental filming elements, Allan Kaprow created a sequence in art called "Happenings." He wanted to prove that things in motion can be considered art and it is a type of art that isn't permanent, but for the audience to see in real time, it was inspired by Jackson Pollocks art. TV's have a massive potential in art too. Because of Nam June Paik's study on how TV's work, he discovered that if you place a magnet on front of a CRT TV screen, it creates a motion of waves and a blue like form that can be classified as art. This is known as Video Art.

 For this final presentation, we had to show to the class what we have learned thought the year. For this one, we went with the Caledon camera and todays photography and art as well as the evolution of cameras in photography. First, we showed off how a Caledon works, and then discussed how cameras have evolved over time. Then, we showed how AI art can be a game changer when it comes to jobs and how it might raise a bit of concern for those who are terrified of AI. To give it a little bit of a touch, we dressed based on our time period the cameras were released to give it a more authentic feel that we came from that period. Class participation as a must too. Overall, we had a lot of fun creating this project and we feel like we accomplished a lot. 

 A new report says we spent nearly 8 hours a day viewing digital content in 2020 — more than the average adult sleeps. Do you spend 8 hours or more a day viewing digital media? Examples? Comments? What other things do you spend 8 hours a day doing? When it comes to taking a break from everything t I have been doing, I sometimes go to Facebook marketplace and see what other items are for sale, when it comes to other types of social media though, I rarely comment. I have had a small addiction when it came to scrolling through posts, but I don't expose myself to the public as I have found a weird feeling to it and I wouldn't say I like to share personal stuff through social media as well. There are a lot of things that I like to do in my free time when it comes to my free time. Since I like to draw, I like to continue filling my portfolio every day so that when I get a job, it would be helpful for me to show that I have indeed, used my free time in the best way possible, and that ...

 Now that technology has been evolving every year, there are new ways for us to enjoy entertainment wherever we go, and at home too. However, communication was important as well, that's why Samuel Morse was credited as creating one of the first telegraphs, which was one of the earliest forms of electronic media. There was one issue, it would only work on wires, so Guglielmo Marconi modified a telegraph for it to become wireless. He was able to send a letter across the Atlantic Ocean. Many others were also responsible for creating the first television, along with Alexander Graham Bell and Guglielmo. Samuels code was created in 1835 with dots and dashes, Bell invented the telephone, and now, John Loggie Baird is credited as the father of television by including all 3 inventions into one. One of the first televised images was Stokie Bill since it had low sensitivity of the photoelectric cells, then, it was improved when the clarity was fixed.

 For this performance art piece, my group and I wanted to protest something else that nobody else is talking about, the housing crisis on campus. This is based on many experiences of students who were able to get housing and those who did not. I, for example, haven't got housing, so I came up with the idea and the whole team approved it. lex wanted to represent President Vaughn as greedy and corrupt for promising a good life for students when in reality they can't provide housing. I and the rest of the group represented ourselves as students who then turned into depressed students after we gave so much money to the university and they couldn't even give us housing. This was to protest how housing is super important for students and how it can backfire when there are lack of dorms on a campus when there are more than 20,000 students. 

As art continued to evolve and as artists wanted to continue trying new things that could expand their creativity, futurism came into play in the early 1900s. It was all about ideas of what would the future hold for many people with things like dynamism, movement, speed, technology, youth, violence, and change. This was also the beginning of inventors coming up with many ideas of moving cameras to make an actual moving art piece. While chronophotography might evolve the way we take pictures, it took the whole meaning to use it on a different level, creating dynamism. It mainly studied of how things can be drawn in motion, such as animals. One was painted as a dog by Italian artist Giacomo Balla. Music was another important detail as it became more and more modern. Sound effects were being used as an experiment if they could incorporate with such moving films being developed by the day.  When it comes to chance while making art, it can be anything random and it can be something that makes sense or not. Chances are, no pun intended, that it wouldn't have a meaning since chance art is randomized and can be a gamble on what you place on the canvas. For March 27th, we had to make a chance piece by doing a collage. It was pretty interesting seeing all the possibilities we could do when it comes to putting paper randomly and it actually can turn out as a great art piece.
